Rest assured, I’m working hard on the book.

Besides perfecting my Unabomber impression, I’m doing everything I can to deliver a satisfying product come October. Last year, I finished The Opening Night Murders early. (I may have even been finished three months before the release date. I don’t remember exactly) Think of the improvements I could have made during that time. It’s bothered me a little the last few month.
Knowing my luck, this will be the opposite and I ruin something that was great by overworking it.
Anyway, I haven’t been reading or doing much of anything else besides searching the book for laziness, bad pacing, groan-inducing jokes, etc. I’ll probably be gone from the website until October 1st when I will bombard you with advertisements, and you’ll start to grow resentful of me.
The Strange Case of the Barrington Hills Vampire comes out October 15th. It is everything I love in my mystery.
- closed-circle
- impossible-crime
- GAD-rule-obeying
- The detectives are the main characters, and we see the world (and the crimes) through their eyes.
- It’s scary and funny in about equal measure.
I hope you like it.
I’m very tempted to come back here every day, until October, to ask if its out yet. Is it out yet?

There is a cat who plays an important role, but he’s not a cozy cat.
